RCVUNFAM reports whether the respondent is able to take unpaid leave for illness or medical care of another family member in his or her current job.

Respondents who can take unpaid leave on their jobs were given this question. See RCVUNPDLV.

Respondents could also report other ways they are able to take unpaid leave such as own illness/medical care (see RCVUNSELF), eldercare other than for illness (see RCVUNELCARE), vacation (see RCVUNVAC), errands/personal reasons (see RCVUNPERS), birth/adoption of a child (see RCVUNCHILD) or for childcare, other than for illness (see RCVUNCHCARE).

RCVUNFAM was gathered as part of the Leave Module of the ATUS interview. Analyses that include RCVUNFAM should use LVWT as the weight.
