RCVUNELCARE reports whether the respondent is able to take unpaid leave for eldercare, other than for illness in his or her current job.

Respondents who can take unpaid leave on their jobs were given this question. See RCVUNPDLV.

Respondents could also report other ways they are able to take unpaid leave such as own illness/medical care (see RCVUNSELF), illness/medical care of another family (see RCVUNFAM), vacation (see RCVUNVAC), errands/personal reasons (see RCVUNPERS), birth/adoption of a child (see RCVUNCHILD) or for childcare, other than for illness (see RCVUNCHCARE).

RCVUNELCARE was gathered as part of the Leave Module of the ATUS interview. Analyses that include RCVUNELCARE should use LVWT as the weight.
