Description

RELATE_CPS8 reports the relationship of each household member to the CPS respondent.

"Own child" refers to the respondent's biological child, adopted child, or step child.

RELATE_CPS8 was drawn from the final CPS interview, conducted 2-5 months before the ATUS interview. Household relationships were also collected at the time of the ATUS interview. See RELATE. Users should note that RELATE gives the relationship of each household member to the ATUS respondent. The ATUS respondent may or may not be the same as the CPS respondent.
