Description

FBPL indicates whether the person's father was born in the United States, and, if not, his foreign country of birth.

FBPL was drawn from the final CPS interview, conducted 2-5 months before the ATUS interview. Father's birthplace was not updated during the ATUS interview.

Information on mother's birthplace is also available (MBPL), as is information on the respondent's birthplace (BPL).
