BWT is a 12-digit numeric variable.

Description

BWT provides the sampling weight for each person selected for the ATUS sample. In the data for a given year, the sum of BWT over the full ATUS sample should equal the number of people in the population.

BWT is not the appropriate weight to use for constructing estimates based on the ATUS interviews; for most applications, WT06 is the weight that should be used for that purpose. BWT may be useful to data users who wish to construct their own estimation weights rather than using WT06.
