The ATUS data are collected using a Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) instrument. Using a CATI instrument means that a paper version of the survey is not available as a resource for researchers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics provides an abbreviated version of the CATI for reseracher reference.

Users should note that variable names in the questionnaire do not match those in either the original ATUS data available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics or the ATUS-X data which is integrated so that codes are consistent over time.
