PAYIFABS_CPS8 indicates whether or not an employed person was paid for the time he/she was absent from work last week.

EMPSTAT_CPS8 reports the individual's employment status, including whether or not he/she is employed but absent from work. WHYABSNT_CPS8 indicates the reason an employed person was absent from his/her job last week.

PAYIFABS_CPS8 was collected at the time of the final CPS interview, 2-5 months before the ATUS interview. Information on pay during absence from work was not updated at the time of the ATUS interview.
