Description

CITIZEN reports the person's citizenship status. Respondents were identified as belonging to one of five groups: native citizens born in the U.S.; native citizens born in Puerto Rico or U.S. outlying areas; citizens by virtue of being born abroad to American parents; naturalized citizens; and non-citizens.

Information on citizenship was collected during the final CPS interview, 2-5 months before the ATUS interview. Citizenship was not updated during the ATUS interview.
